Too sexy for my cat

PDA's awesome stage/lighting/video production
Pretty cool scene at last night's Charleston Fashion Week show, in fact, I think that may have been my first fashion show...ever! Well, do you count mall fashion shows when you were an adolescent brat? Nah. I even saw someone wearing their DIOR sunglasses at night, fierce?!?!

A bevy of brunettes, Lee, Emma, moi, LK
I'll be sure to get some photos of the Bridal Couture show on Saturday.

Vive la carpool lane!

One of my fave vacations yet! Nikki and I have been friends since I was in college and we met through one of those off-campus apartments where the residents pay for their rooms in a 4-bedroom apartment and have random roommates. Well, must've been fate because we're still great friends who fly across the country to see each other every year or so (and she went to a psychic once, and Ms. Cleo said we were Native American twins in another life..). Anywho, here's a little synopsis:

Day1- Arrived at John Wayne International and Nikki scooped me up in her pimp '87 Mercedes and we zoomed up the 405 (?) in the carpool lane. We drove to Nikki's hood, Long Beach, and ate at La Creperie, CUTE! We called it a night and crashed so I could adjust to the time change.

Day 2- Drove to San Clemente, where Nikki's grandfather lives, and laid out by the pool. I felt so Laguna Beach in this big mansion, Nikki calls it "the compound". Her grandpa cooked steaks in his new-fangled counter-top convection oven and we watched American Idol.
Day 3- Got up, lounged by the pool some more, then we drove to Nikki's friend Torrie's house and hopped into her car. 4 hours later, Vegas, baby! First ever Del Taco consumption on the way.
We went to the Playboy Club at the Palms, where we tried to fend off as many male conventioneers as possible. I broke even playing roulette, then we got back to the place we were staying at 5am!
Day 4 - 8:00am, drove back to San Clemente, got Nikki's car, headed to Chipotle, ate, then fell asleep at 8:00pm, exhausted.
Day 5- Went shopping at H&M then drove home get ready for a west coast bonfire. The bonfire was at Bolsa Chica, near Huntington Beach I think. Everything you'd think of at a bonfire, this one had; sunset over water, hangers made into skewers, hot dogs, mallows, s'mores, and a guitar.
Day 6- Last day, we took a walk around Nikki's super cute neighborhood as the consistently perfect weather made made me miss California before I'd even left. Later, we hit up In-N-Out and hugged goodbye on the curb of LAX!

Until we meet again, In-N-Out burger of my dreams!

PS

I sucked at keeping up with my blog this past week, had a crazy wedding-filled weekend! More posts to come and my Cali trip photos for Nikki.

FIERCE!

Just last week in Toronto, L’Oréal Fashion Week took place and we all know of the big ones, Paris, New York, LA, Miami. There was even a pro-fur fashion show, sparsley attended, I might add!

Hmmm, this reminds me (not the pro-fur part) of Charleston Fashion Week ...which begins today! I'm going to Thursday's event and the Bridal Couture show, so can't wait to post some photos of that. Gathering Floral + Event Design will produce the finale gala again this year, can't go, but can't wait to check out the photos!

Jillian Lewis, Project Runway finalist, and one of my fave designers on the show, will be a special guest.

re:cycled

I've been looking into recycled glass for a wedding I'm designing, and while these are way out of our price range, they are really cool. Transglass Recycled Glass from re:modern are handcrafted by artisans.
Locally, we can find recycled glass from Fisher Recycling and use the pieces in serving, like James Burns of JBC Catering does, his presentation is greatly enhanced because of the recycled glass he uses.

Boone Hall in Late Spring

So, I just got back from a great vacation in California. I'm going to post a little about it after this. First, I want to highlight my awesome new client, she's getting married in May of next year at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall (and is on top of her wedding biznass). I've setup there, but have yet to do a wedding design, and it's great to have such a descriptive client. These are the inspirations she's come up with on her own, and she's been doing her research.
Thanks for the inspiration, Jenny, can't wait to make your vision come true!

Always and Forever

Lookie these different styles of calligraphy. I've always been inclined to the art of writing, it is one of my goals to take it up someday. Even though it seems like a fading art form with the advent of technology and graphic design, it's so wonderfully nostalgic and easy to customize stationery for any occasion.

above: GAH! Everyone I know is getting preggers and having bebes,

these are dang cute announcements!

You can find many different styles of calligraphy and calligraphers on the internet and mail them your "assignment"; they'll do them and send 'em back. The first two, above, are by Love Jenna.

These two, above and below, I found at KisforCalligraphy's shop on Etsy.

Photographe Mariage

Wedding Photography. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Paris (France, not Hilton). Since I was young I always wanted to explore Europe, Paris in particular, so when I finally went there on my honeymoon, it was exactly what I dreamt of and more! It is an electric city with history, art, beautiful (OLD!) buildings and manicured gardens amongst the buzz of caffiene, Smart cars and European pop culture.

This morning I got curious about wedding photography in the City of Light. I found some photos that give off a different energy (French?) than the ones I've seen here, and I LOVE it! These are by French photorapher Sophie Boulet.

Il est très a la mode et parisienne, non?
