Graffiti Nation

I never thought I would read the words "graffiti" and "wedding" in the same sentence... but I stumbled onto a website actually named WonderfulGraffitiWedding.com where they have a really cool idea about adding a unique twist to the big day.

Described as so easy to apply, even a nervous groom can do it, these vinyl transfers stick easily and remove quickly without harming surfaces. Definitely worth looking into, these are... sticking on me?! No, that was lame, they are very cool!

Gotta run, been so busy lately!!! TTYL, LYLAS, OMG!!!

Food + Wine Starts Tomorrow!

The BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival will hit tomorrow in Marion Square and take over until March 2! This is only the third annual F+W Fest and the buzz has been enormous. It's great for Charleston as a foodie destination and deffo raises the profile of our restaurants and chefs. Unfortch, I won't be able to attend much, maybe the Culinary Village, but I will look forward to photos of all the events on Let'sTalkCharleston.com!

And the award goes to...

Yeah, duh, I'm going to do an Oscar post! It's not the most exciting awards show of the year, but it's a biggie and you can see the winners, and most importantly some party pics and the best dressed/tressed HERE.

I watched it here and there and my fave was when Daniel Day Lewis won for Best Actor in There Will Be Blood, he was just so sweet, it's hard to believe he's the same guy in a lot of his movies.

Elton John's Aids Foundation after party was apparently the hottest ticket in town because Vanity Fair cancelled their huge annual soiree in the wake of the Hollywood writer's strike, for fear that the Oscar's were going to be cancelled... sucks for them, because they weren't!

It Looks Goooood........

The full trailer!!!! I SO can't wait!

Public Debate of Affection

PDA teamed up with CNN again last night for the Democratic Presidential debate at the University of Texas at Austin. What an awesome production, as always! They are definitely not strangers to working with political events, see their photo gallery HERE.

To see the staging and production live... oh, and maybe watch the debate, here's the full video below. To skip to other scenes, click Menu.

Super sonic boom

I've been aching to create an event design with balloons for a long time now. Instead of looking cheesy, I think they have the potential to look really cool! Here I am, one step closer, after finding these balloon lamps from Designboom.com. The balloons have built-in LEDs and come with a hook attached. Check out their shop HERE.

No more...

Cursing and rudeness, shame on me, I'm a professional!

Pay It Forward

My dear friend (and former BOSS-lady, haha) Kenton Morrison recently asked me if I'd like to join the Exec. Committee for Women Making a Difference and I humbly accepted!

If you don't know about WMAD, here's a little taste: "The mission for Women Making a Difference is to build a community of women philanthropists, maintain a permanent endowment fund, and provide grants to institutions and initiatives that advance the well-being of women and children in Charleston."

Their next JOIN event is tomorrow at the Market Pavilion Hotel from 6pm-8:30pm, but the RSVP date has already passed, however, if you're interested you can keep checking their events calendar and attend something, or join.

Check out some images of their 2007 Grant Awards in November of last year on Ida Becker's Charleston Magazine Fete Set photo gallery, here. More that $100,000 was given away at this event!

Pay it forward, like Haley Joel Osment, before he was a criminal... and if he were a woman.

Event I'd Like to Attend - O - the Month

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) unveiled the new Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM) on its campus earlier this month with an ultra contemporary, star-studded event. Tables for the party went from $25,000- $100,000, dang! By the looks of it, it cost a lot to put on. The gala(?) raised more that $5M.

I booked my flight to California the other day to visit one of my best friends, Nikki. She resides in the L.B.C., but I hope we'll get some time to hangout in LA and go Brit-watching and shop at H&M, oh, and maybe check out BCAM at LACMA.

Save $$ on servers by carving them out of ice, that's what I always say.

Last time I visited, we were so stoked to stumble upon the real Beverly Hills High School, so Brenda Walsh of us!

Their mascot is a Norman,

I wonder how they slip that into their fight song!

Oh my GAHHHH!

The more things change, the more they stay the same, right? I had an epiphany tonight, after a couple glasses of wine and a shot... or two, that I love my blog and it's sort of like my personal journal that I never started writing in. All of you visit my blog every day, an astonishing growing number, and I bare my professional soul to you, but what about my personal thoughts that make up the backbone of my posts? I'm not a complicated individual, I have been blessed with the "happy-go-lucky" gene from my Dad, Gene. I love the simple things in this life, like good friends to laugh with, and time to myself to discover me (seeing as I'm *mostly* an only child). Hopefully, if the internet doesn't crash, my kids will read this one day. Sorry to get so sentimental on you, but here's a glimpse at what makes up "me":
Spent some time growing up in England,
a lil' military brat for a while.
omFg, 80's for realz, look at that shirt! And HAIR!
I can't believe I'm posting this on my blog...
(Hey, Scott Baio called, he wants his hair back)

Atlanta, Georgia making the best of what's around.

My BFF Paula, since we were little.

My Dad, my hero, or gyro.

My Greggy, we'll still be having a great time
when we're old farts, LOVE IT!

Okay, signing off, back to normal next week! Have a good weekend!

Wizoot!

Blog Awards Winner

By Blog of the Day! Thanks a million!

And I’m singing uh oh on a Friday night

Obsessed with Kate Nash's song Mouthwash, fun video, too.

This makes me want to live in London, buy flowers at Borough Market under a cloudy sky, then stop off at a pub for a local ale of some sort, and maybe watch a Manchester United football match on the tele. Cheers!~

Papier et des choses

You know when you need nice stationery, either because you're on a budget, or you don't feel like gettin' all crazy with it? I found some great online stationers that I find myself going back to time after time...

Wedding Paper Divas.com has some great contemporary stationery suites and great colors.

Fine Stationery.com , among a large selection of customizable (word?) invitations, houses many extras like embossers, stamps and personalized napkins.

Jean M has a lot for the one-stop-shop bride. A lot of personlized invitation options, sticker seals and ribbon, as well.

Art of gold

OMG, I know I didn't just title this post "Art of Gold", I was trying to come up with something that tied in art and Valentine's Day... n-e-wey. This looks like it will be a fun way to spend your Valentine's Day this year, see for yourself (click for bigger pic):

For a good cause and the sake of art. Plus Kiki will be there! Purchase tix HERE.

Dipping Sauces - $3

My artist/photog/friend Christina Bailey (X-tina is suitable, as well) took some photos of me for Social Event Design so I would have some professional-esque shots; here are some outtakes and the final!

These were taken at Monza, the new pizzeria on King. We just wanted some candids, but it turned out really nice, it sort of looks like a set. It's sum good eatin' too.

Go figure, the shot I liked the best was taken when we switched seats and I didn't have the words "egg", "dipping sauces" and "no SUBSTITUTIONS" above my head, lol. Here it is on my ABOUT page on my website, Woot!

Thanks X-tina!

Bendy people

I helped my friend LK on Saturday night with her Super Sweet 16 gig, and it was quite a show! Other than gawking at what the teens were wearing, the most fun to watch were the performers from Acroback. Based in NYC they are truly amazing performance artists who can do just about anything, and travel anywhere. Shout out!
